Legend says that Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, presented the first olive tree to Zeus, king of the gods, as the “perfect gift.”
The Romans of antiquity believed that olive oil and wine were the basis of civilization. And, early in the Bible, after the great flood, the dove returns to Noah with an olive twig, revealing the earth’s renewal.
